Um Pouco Sobre Krs One


KRS One, também conhecido por Kris Parker, iniciou sua carreira nos anos oitenta e atingiu o auge entre os anos de 1987 e 1990.

Considerado um dos fundadores originais do gênero, até hoje KRS continua sendo respeitado e influente no mundo Hip-Hop. Não é por menos que ele se autodenomina ‘The Theacher’ (O professor).

Sobre suas rimas, KRS sempre foi socialmente consciente, atacando assuntos variados ao longo de sua carreira. Diferente da maioria que sempre relacionam os problemas que afrontam os moradores urbanos, especialmente os negros, usando apenas temas como pobreza, vida nas ruas e política.

No novo álbum “Life”, KRS não ataca só estes pontos, ao invés disto, até faz uma observação especifica em “Still Slippin’”, falando “I am hip-hop/I don’t speak for blacks” (eu sou Hip-Hop/eu não falo para negros). Ele entende que sua música tem a capacidade de alcançar uma vasta gama de pessoas de muitas tribos, como mostra também em “I’m On The Mic”.

No total, KRS fala de problemas que afligem todas as pessoas e aborda também a cultura Hip-Hop que mostra tanto o lado positivo como o negativo.

“Life”, que conta com a participação de quatro convidados desconhecidos, não é um álbum perfeito, mas as batidas são boas e as rimas compõem bonitos pensamentos, tornando-os belos e raros.


Kris Parker estreou-se a solo, antes fizera parte dos Boogie Down Productions, em 1993 com Return Of The Boom Rap.

Depois de lançar KRS-One, Battle For Rap Supremacy e I've Got Next em 1995, 1996 e 1997 respectivamente o artista do Bronx esteve parado até 2001, altura em que lançou Sneak Attack.

O seu último trabalho foi Keep Right.

KRS-One, que para além de nas suas letras demonstrar grande consciência política e social que se traduz nas críticas implicitas nas mesmas, é fundador do Temple Of Hip Hop.
